Alex Afshar MD, is the Medical Director & President of Vein Centers of Connecticut.  Dr. Afshar is a family practice physician. He is an expert in the diagnosis and treatment of venous disease, which is performed in-office and involves minimal down time and pain and covered by insurance if symptomatic.

Dr. Afshar has trained extensively in the field of Phlebology (specialty in vein medicine). "I am committed to providing my patients with the most advanced, non-surgical office venous procedures available in a well established, safe and friendly environment.  These procedures are currently being used throughout the United States and the world to help treat the most challenging of venous disorders".

Dr. Afshar's education has involved residency training at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons/ The Stamford Hospital, Stamford CT,  Medical research at the National Institute of Health, National Cancer Institute with a number of publications and acknowledgments, Medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine, BS degrees and BS course work from George Washington University, Washington D.C. and Sheffield University, United Kingdom.

Dr. Afshar is fluent in English with a good working knowledge of Spanish and Latin and enjoys reading, motocross, wakeboarding and gardening.
